The Prussians Are Coming...a positive for the campaign

I'm a bit under the weather, today, but I wanted to post about this before I retire early for the night. On Saturday, I should be able to post what I had intended for today, about the campaign design process.

I have not been much of a fan of the Franco-Prussian War from the standpoint of collecting miniatures for it. However, it has always been interesting from the perspective of military history. In fact, just this week, I bought a copy of GMT's At Any Cost: Metz 1870 from a guy on Ebay. Since there are currently no plans for this game to be reprinted anytime soon, I felt paying a little more was worth it.

Now that the Perry twins, may they live forever, are going to be releasing plastic Prussians (and French) for the period, I am most certainly going to buy a couple of boxes.

The reason being is that these would go very, very, well with my campaign for at least one, if not two, of the four major factions. I figure the British colonial miniatures and the French colonials from the Perrys will do for the other two major factions.

This works for me as I do not intend to have major battles between the factions for this Era of my campaign, but rather small to large skirmishes, with moderately-sized battles against the local natives of whichever land they are trying to exploit.

So, if I add a few metals from this period to give the forces some characters, it will really be...perfect for my needs.

Even with this disaster that 2020 was for much of the world, it is still a very good age for historical miniature wargaming, even if I'm using the miniatures for fictional factions in fantasy wars.
