In going through the various resources for creating this hybrid tactical system for my campaign, I knew I had purchased pdf copies of most everything related to Hail Caesar, Pike and Shotte, and Black Powder.
I have some physical copies, which I have gone through again during this process of working through a design. However, I realized I needed to go back to my pdf copies of the other books, in case there was a special rule or something that would be best resolved now, instead of later.
So, I went back through my saved files and realized...they weren't there.
So, I got onto my other computer (I should say "one of my other computers, for I have several" [A&E fans might recognize that from the 90s]), that my son is currently using, and lo, those saved pdfs weren't there either.
I now remember them being on a PC that gave up the ghost about a year before I moved, one that I might be able to recover, but do not have the time or resources to do it myself, and I live 3 hours from a dependable specialist.
Which means they are there, just not accessible.
The story of my life...
I sent an email to Warlord and explained the situation, some of the pdfs go back to the first ones they sold, and hoped for the best, being prepared to having to repurchase them all (one of which I'd already done by accident).
Well, today, I received a reply wanting clarification as to what I had purchased (I have almost all of those emails saved on the cloud), and that yes, they will make sure I can access them through Warlord once more.
My relief and appreciation are more than I can state.
While I am not a fanboy of anyone or anything, I can say that I have always liked Warlord as a company. Having worked for John Stallard at GW US, I've always liked the man as both a boss and a human being. I should never have had a concern that a company owned by him would be unwilling to help a guy out in such a jam.
People will complain about prices or bases, or whatever, about any company, but to me, value shared is value earned, just so is loyalty.
I made sure to show my gratitude by picking up some more of their Black Seas ships for use in my campaign. This is something I try to do anytime a company goes out of their way to assist me. While these ships are unlikely to be used in a game of Black Seas, they WILL be used, and I hope that I'll be able to show how in the next few months.
Once I have the pdfs again, I'll be able to go back to posting on the campaign design process, as anything I type now will likely change. In fact, I have some changes that I am already considering making to what has thus far been written. Slight changes, but still changes.
I will have to run some play test sessions first and then make a decision.
It may be something I can trying to explain in a post of its own, but I still need to sort it all in my mind before doing so.
Also, I do thank you, dear reader, for taking the time to visit this blog and read the posts. Hopefully, some of this is interesting to you and perhaps may even inspire you to explore other avenues available to you in this wonderful hobby.
